Loving God

Reflections for contemplative living

Do you love God with all your heart? This is the ultimate commandment, the action which we are called to adhere to.  This means including God in our work and other activities, our reading and writing, no matter how spiritual, and even during our external devotions and vocal prayers.

Trusting Always in God’s Will

A Reflection by Jacquelyne Rocan

When I pray the Lord’s Prayer, and say words “… thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”, I am showing my trust in God that He knows what is best for each of us in every situation as He alone sees the “big picture”, He alone knows what is right for all people and all situations.

Hoping Into Possibility

Reflections for contemplative living

Hope can arouse us like nothing else to live in the space of possibility. To sustain us on our life journey, God gives us the seeds of faith, hope, and love. Hope inspires and drives us to move mountains. Hope helps us broaden our perspective and see the possibilities in our life.

Slowing Down

Reflections for contemplative living

How often do you find yourself rushing around the day with no space to think or even go to the bathroom? Or filling your schedule so tight with activities there is little time to enjoy what is in front of you? The Ultimate Warrior

Reflections for contemplative living

A warrior is a person engaged or experienced in warfare, a soldier, one who shows or has shown great vigor, courage, or aggressiveness. And to take care of the elderly, the defenseless, those who cannot provide for themselves, and above all, the children – the future of humanity.

The Mystery of Love

Reflections for contemplative living

Do you place limits on God’s love? I often think about how limited my human perspective is as I try to know God. It is only through the humility of a humble heart, which listens to the Spirit dwelling within me, that I expand my understanding of the greatness of God. This experience allows me to live the mystery.

A Magical Lesson

Reflections for contemplative living

There are few things within the grasp of our control if we face and accept reality. We can, however, have control of ourselves, our thoughts, attitudes, and reactions. An attitude of gratitude can make a world of difference. We can learn the magical lesson that making the most of what we have turns it into more.

Courageous Forgiveness

Reflections for contemplative living

We live in a pretty disordered world. One just has to look at the news, popular entertainment, and trends on social media to catch a glimpse. We live in the sensational, not the reality of the present. It’s not a wonder we are disordered people unless we constantly turn to God for wisdom and strength to know what is good. Our unconscious behaviors wreak havoc on those around us and it’s our responsibility to mature and grow in awareness, compassion, and forgiveness.
