The Praise Paradox

Reflections for contemplative living

To mature spiritually, we need to grow in wholeness which is body, mind, and spirit, living an integrated life. This way of living is hard, not for the faint of heart and what’s meant by the “narrow gate.” By living our best life, we worship God to the fullest, giving praise and all glory to our Creator.

Praise doesn’t change God. It should change us. It changes our perspective on situations. It moves us from our limited view to God’s unlimited view, providing an open door for God to move within us.

This is why praise and worship is a critical path in our growth and maturity. I know it moves me out of my own way and raises my consciousness. The tighter I hold onto a person or situation living out my unconscious patterns, the more elusive and anxiety provoking it becomes to me. When I take it to God, expressing my true feelings and inviting divine wisdom to intervene, I release the control and my expectations. This release allows me to shift to expectancy and gratitude despite the difficulty of my circumstance. I begin living in the praise paradox.

Let everything that has breath give praise to the Lord!  Hallelujah!

Psalm 150:6

Thank you, Lord, for Your goodness and wisdom, calling me to live my best life.
