Do you accept others as they are or deep down, do you wish they would change?
The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise, we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.
As I learn to love, I’m learning humility to love people as they are not who I want them to be, as they mirror my image or feed my ego. As I slow down my hurried life, I’m more eager to love unconditionally and accept the reality before me. I see that it’s my job to love God and others as I love myself. Loving myself is not trying to change anyone but myself, and to will the good of the other.
Who do I need to love unconditionally today?
Lord, remove the “self” from my love today.
