The world does not understand the Christian faith, so the world tries to change the faith to fit its understanding. If it cannot change the faith, then the world tries to destroy faith.
The world is constantly trying to change us. It does change us. As we develop, our false self grows to help us adapt to our surroundings. Our ego leads us down the worldly path of pride, power, comparison, and control, taking us far away from our true self as God designed. The only way back is through love.
It is by accepting our weakness that we become strong. By learning to love the shadows of our personality we are healed, carrying us back to our true self as God designed us to be. Before the stains of the world tarnished us. Preparing us for our ultimate destination. Despite the struggle, we who strive to follow Christ authentically must look toward perfect love, toward Jesus, who will cast all our fear aside.
You do not belong to the world, I have chosen you out of the world. John 15:18-21
