As a virtue, justice is the constant and permanent determination to give everyone his or her rightful due. It is a habitual inclination of the will and therefore always recognizes each one’s rights, under any and all circumstances.
As Gods creations, we have universal needs that deserve to be met. Things like autonomy, connection, honesty, play, peace, physical well-being and meaning. When these are met, we live and allow others to live an authentic, rich life. In order to find peace, we must constantly work for justice. Let me contemplate what is right and just, my duty and my salvation today.
Prayer for Justice
Father, you have given all peoples one common origin. It is your will that they be gathered together as one family in yourself. Fill the hearts of mankind with the fire of your love and with the desire to ensure justice for all. By sharing the good things you give us, may we secure an equality for all our brothers and sisters throughout the world. May there be an end to division, strife and war. May there be a dawning of a truly human society built on love and peace. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord.
Amen
