Finding God's Goodness

Week Thirty-One. Modesty. A Gift.

Month Seven – Valuing My Body. Temperance with faith produces modesty.

We are not meant to go it alone. As humans we are incapable of living fully in the light of God‘s goodness but we can constantly seek this goal. But never fear, God has thought of everything and His goal is to bring us closer to Him. The Holy Spirit that lives within us shows us the way.

Let your good spirit lead me on a level path.

Psalm 143:10

Living in the gifts of wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord complete and perfect my virtue. They might be ready to obey divine inspiration. These gifts lead me on the good path, day by day, living the good life and allowing me to see God‘s goodness. As I live my life and these gifts I’ve been given, I bear good fruit. Practicing temperance helps me moderate my attraction of pleasures and ensures my will’s mastery over instinct. I bear the good fruit of modesty.

Modesty is a requirement for a pure heart. I learned to protect the center of my being and grow in respect towards others. I refuse to unveil what should remain hidden. Understanding my body is the temple of my soul – the manifestation of divine beauty. I seek to glorify God in my body and my spirit, not drawing undue attention to myself. I have a healthy love of myself that is tied to my dependence on God, living my life according to His purpose.

Lord, thank you for giving me an attitude of humility and decency in how I present myself, talk and act today. Please purify my heart to be like Yours.
