Teach Us To Pray

Where Do You Turn?

Season of goodness in prayer

Where do you turn in your time of need? For comfort after a stressful day, after a conflict with someone or something like unexpected news about your health? We often turn to things of this world to satisfy these areas of need within our heart rather than what will satisfy our needs.

As we look forward to the season of Lent, perhaps we spend those 40 days turning to God first in our time of need. As we exercise our gifts of the Holy Spirit of wisdom and understanding, we turn away from the personal hells we create for ourselves and turn to God first, allowing us to view circumstances, clearly, and walk in His light.

Gladden the soul of your servant, for I  lift up my soul to you, oh, Lord. Teach me, oh, Lord, your way, so that I may walk in your truth. I will praise you, Lord, my God, with all my heart, and glorify your name forever. Your mercy to me has been great, you have saved me from the depths of Sheol. (Psalm 86:4-13)

Amen
