Much of the journey of spiritual growth is about choosing the better part. This is the way we praise God giving glory through our life. When two good things are in front of you, how do you make the right choice? The better choice usually involves trust and self-surrender.
As we immerse ourselves in prayer and God’s word, we can let the Spirit guide us to praise God by making the better choice. Do I slow down and notice the person in front of me and risk being a few minutes late for a meeting? Or do I stop working at a regular interval to stretch and go for a walk? Do I say no to activities, even those of service, in order to create the space for balance in my own life? The contemplative life helps us trust the Lord with all our heart and be grounded in His ways, choosing the better choice.
Lord,
I trust you with all my heart, let me not rely on my own insight. Help me acknowledge you in all my ways and make my path straight.
Amen
