For various reasons from our personal story, it may be hard to look at the crucified Christ. I am drawn to the crucifix because it is a reminder of God’s incredible love for us. Sure, it reveals the extreme suffering He embraced to save us from our sins, but it shows there is no end to His love. The crucifix is the sign of Jesus’ victory and our eternal salvation.
The crucifix is also a sacramental. Sacramentals are spiritual objects or prayers instituted by the Church that dispose our souls to receive grace. Wearing a crucifix can be a personal way to show our devotion to God. It is a simple way to express our gratitude for His sacrificial love, and to remind ourselves of what it means to be His..
