We all have one. Are you rushing to get out the door to start work or get the kids off to school? Or are you carving a little space for yourself to set your intentions for the day? It’s challenging to think about creating space for a “Holy Hour” full of prayer and scripture reading as part of a morning routine but it is well worth the effort.
What does your morning routine look like? As a Christian, of course you want to start your morning off with God, so that your first act of the day is adoration and praise. You can do this even if you don’t have much time. Three steps are all it takes:
First, make a cup of coffee and invite God into your heart.
Next, sit in your favorite comfy spot, take a deep breath, and give thanks to God for the gift of a new day.
Finally, open your favorite Gospel or meditation—focus on a few short paragraphs that are loaded with spiritual benefit and meditate on God’s living word.
Thank you, Lord, for the discipline to help me have a morning routine prioritizing what matters.
