When I pray the Lord’s Prayer, and say words “… thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven …”, I am showing my trust in God that He knows what is best for each of us in every situation as He alone sees the “big picture”, He alone knows what is right for all people and all situations.
However, when faced with a difficult situation where I cannot see a clear path forward, do I really trust that God will lead me through the maze? Do I really believe the words I say as part of the Lord’s Prayer and trust that God has all the circumstances in my life – both the big rocks and the small pebbles — in His beautiful and capable hands?
I am facing a situation in a volunteer capacity where the circumstances are difficult and the life and well-being of a young child is at stake. I have prayed each day for God to lead this child’s care team to the right path for this child. At times, though, I think I need to take certain actions or force a solution, but I realize this ultimately demonstrates a lack of my trust in God’s will. I continue to pray each day for a path forward for this child and trust that the will of God will be revealed to me at the right time.
Lord, I pray that I will always trust that Your will be done at all times and in all places. When I pray, let me truly believe and trust as I ask for Your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Amen!

Thank you, Cynthia. My son has not been well lately. Your “ Smitten with Goodness” today made me realize that it is up to God. I have to put all my trust in Him.
