Throughout Scripture, we are called to “wake up” and “stay awake.” This is the intention of growing awareness which leads to responsible adulthood and a mature Christ-centered life. So often, we want to live in the past or future, when all we have is the moment before us.
In this moment:
I hear the sounds of cicadas singing and the crow of a black bird, cawing in the distance.
I see my husband’s care in making sure my Keurig is ready to go as I wake up.
I feel the rumbles of hunger in my stomach after a night of rest and digestion.
I smell the dryness and heat starting on another unusually hot day.
I contemplate Christ’s love which knows no bounds.
I notice a calmness in my thinking.
I find hope and joy within my heart.
Where do you see God at this moment?
Lord, You are the truth, the way, and life, found in this moment.
