Dancing In The Dark

Reflections for contemplative living

We must fight for justice, for our safety, and for the right to live in a world where we can thrive. It is a reality that we are living in turbulent times.

But everything in our lives can be used for spiritual growth, stretching us beyond our current comfort, broadening our perspective or giving us greater awareness and understanding.  This is the connection to the light.  Even when we feel overcome by the darkness of midnight, we can work to maintain a connection to the light.

In darkness we lose the visual tools of sight, but we still have internal tools of memory to remind us of our terrain. We need more than determination to fight for justice, we need love to keep us from getting lost in distraction, keep us from falling into despair, and help us restore ourselves. We need love to get us back into harmony with ourselves, so we can last through that dark night.  So we can thrive in the darkness of an oppressive world.  We can remember to dance in the dark, until a new dawn comes.

How well do you meet the threats in your life?

Thank you, Lord, for your everlasting love and being with me despite that darkness.
